As parents, we understand that finding a safe and comfortable dental office for your child is priority. We want the same for our kids! That is why we have committed to making Timber Kids Dentistry & Orthodontics a place where kids can not only feel safe, but get excited for their oral health! Our team makes it easy for parents to mention the dentist without striking anxiety in the hearts of their littles ones, and we provide the resources to help encourage healthy habits at home.
The AAPD advises having your child’s first dental appointment by the age of one. Even if you are past that stage and well into the toddler or teenage years, it’s never too late to start your children on a healthy path.
Your dentists do more than just fix teeth. We design treatment plans according to their age to teach your children to prevent problems, handle difficult situations confidently, and make Mom and Dad proud.
From diapers to learning how to drive, our team will help guide your children to a healthy smile and sense of self.
Your baby’s first visit to the dentist by age one is all about education and prevention of cavities. Our team will provide you and your baby all the necessary tools to ensure a healthy smile for years to come.
Toddlers understand a lot more than we give them credit for. If their first visit is around ages 2-7, our dental family will make sure they view dentistry as fun and routine, rather than scary and burdensome.
A healthy smile is especially important for children ages 8-18. From their very first visit, we’ll take steps to achieve their best smile, giving them confidence to face any challenges ahead.
Most kids will start going to the dentist at a very young age, so as a parent it is important to always start the conversation with enthusiams and excitement as they will tend t o mimic your emotions. Introducing the dentist as a fun adventure will help them look forward to their appointments, instead of dwell on the unknowns of the experience - which cause them a lot of anxiety. At our office, we provide fun toys and games in the waiting room - including an awesome tent in the lobby - so be sure to share with them about what awaits them during their checkup! You can also walk them through what a routine visit will look like. First, we will clean their teeth gently (similar to brushing at home), then we will count and examine their teeth. Remember- speak with excitement!
Infants and younger children will likely want a parent to accompany them in the operatory. At our office, we are happy to allow your child to be held on your lap through the entire appointment if that helps them feel more at ease. As they get more familiar with our team and office, they may want to do their exam and cleaning on their own - but that is completely up to you and your child. We never want you to feel pressured to leave your child alone or to feel obligated to stay if you both feel more relaxed one way or the other. Discuss it with your child beforehand, and just let us know what you’d like to do when you check in.
Whether your large family is in for back-to-back appointments, or you just want to enjoy a cup of coffee while your kid has some fun, our lobby is always open for early arrivals. It was specially designed for kids to create their own adventures while getting the healthcare they need and deserve. Some come early and watch your kid make positive memories at the dentist.
New patient forms give us all the information we need for a seamless first visit and they help us get to know you and your family before you even enter our office. This means that when you and your little one arrive, we can focus on what matters most— your child’s dental health!
Please be on the lookout for these forms to be delivered to you electronically via your email!
